Deanston Distillery, located on the banks of the River Teith in the Scottish Highlands, has been producing distinctive single malt Scotch whisky since 1966. Originally a cotton mill built in 1785, the distillery's conversion maintained much of the original structure, adding historical charm to its operations. Deanston whisky is crafted using traditional methods, including open-top mash tuns and wooden washbacks, which contribute to its unique character.

Deanston prides itself on its commitment to sustainability. The distillery generates its own electricity through a hydroelectric plant powered by the River Teith, reflecting its eco-friendly ethos. The whisky produced is non-chill filtered and often aged in ex-bourbon casks, resulting in a creamy, honeyed flavor profile with notes of malt and subtle spice.

Dial in sharp carbide or HSS tools, crank speeds to 2,000–3,000 RPM, and take feather-light cuts (0.005–0.015 inches) to dodge melting or gummy buildup.
