Introducing a brand new line of custom crafted molds that are sure to change the hand casting industry. These are semi-permanent in nature. They won't warp or crack but will take lots of abuse, unlike traditional silicone molds. These tough molds are solid bodies, milled from blocks of HDPE (High Density Polyethylene). And best of all, they stack!! There is no need for a casting rack! Demolding is easy! Just pull the suction plugs, turn the mold upside down, rap the ends a few times on your work bench and watch the blanks fall out. These true beasts are designed to DEVOUR THE COMPETITION!
This mold system has overall dimensions of 7.25" x 3.75" x 1.60" with single casting chamber, each measuring 5.25" x .84375" x 1.0". The blanks can easily be end trimmed and squared up on a table saw, if so desired.
Includes four large stopper silicone inserts and four small stopper silicone inserts! The small stoppers will accommodate tubes 7mm - 27/64" in diameter. The large stoppers will accommodate tubes 27/64" - 13.2mm.
Important Notes:
A release agent must be used due to the rigidity of the molds. Maneater Wax Mold Release is highly recommended. Just brush the release agent into the chambers and on the silicone inserts, ensuring complete coverage. Allow to dry before pouring your resin. Also apply a release agent on the rubber plugs to keep them free of any resin buildup caused by potential spillage.
A rubberized dead blow hammer will help the demold process greatly. Lightly rap the bottom and sides of the mold once your blanks have fully cured, then turn the mold over and lightly rap the mold ends against your work bench top to see your blanks release. Based on personal experience, Alumilite and polyester resin blanks will release with little effort at all. Epoxy blanks may require a few extra raps or a blast of air from a rubberized nozzle before releasing.
If you enjoy clear casting labels, watch parts, skins, hybrids, etc. and are looking for a semi-permanent solution for tube-in casting, then the new Maneater Crafts “DogBone” tube-in casting mold is for you! It’s a single mold solution that is super simple to use and will work with the majority of turning kits on the market (not to exceed tubes over 12.5mm in diameter). It’s literally a one mold fits all solution!! That includes most pen kits, seam rippers, razors and even darts!
What makes the DogBone so special? To start, it is milled from solid HDPE and is virtually indestructible. It won’t warp or crack like silicone molds. It features two 5.5” x .75” chambers and two sets of silicone inserts. One set has small stoppers for 7mm - 3/8” tubes. The other set has stoppers for 3/8” - 12.5mm tubes. The inserts are replaceable at a cost of $8 per set. The mold body should last for years if properly cared for.
What else is special about the DogBone? Well, the unique design allows the molds to stack one on top of the other. They will self-align with the included rubber feet and if pressure casting in a 2.5 gal pot, you can stack them up to six molds high and two stacks side by side. That gives you the ability to cast up to 24 blanks at a time!! And best of all, no mold caddy it needed!! That makes this mold ideal for hobby casters and volume casters alike!
The DogBone is strictly intended for tube-in casting since the chambers don’t include bottom plugs to assist with blank removal. If you are interested in casting full chamber blanks then please try one of the other Maneater molds. All of the usual casting resins will work great, including Royal Palm, Alumilite and PR (polyester resin).

Special Offer: 40% Off Due to Manufacturing Error
NOT FOR USE WITH LABEL TUBE CASTING
These Dogbone 1 Mold Body molds are offered at a 40% discount due to a manufacturing error where the casting slots were cut 0.5mm too wide, making them incompatible with our tube casting plugs. They are ideal for single blank casting with solid resin or hybrid resin, producing high-quality pen blanks.
To easily distinguish these SECONDS from properly manufactured molds, the ears on the ends have been flattened.
Crafted from durable HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene), these semi-permanent molds resist warping and cracking, outperforming traditional silicone molds. Their stackable design eliminates the need for a casting rack, streamlining your workspace. Demolding is simple—remove the suction plugs, flip the mold, and tap the ends on your workbench to release the blanks.
Mold Specifications:
- Dimensions: 6.5" x 3.25" x 1.25"
- Casting Chambers: Single chamber, 5.5" x 0.77" x 1.0"
- Material: Milled HDPE for durability
- Features: Stackable, reusable, easy demolding, flattened ears for identification
Usage Instructions:
Apply a release agent, such as Maneater Wax Mold Release or Maneater Silicone Mold Release, to the chambers and rubber plugs to prevent resin buildup. Ensure full coverage and let it dry before pouring resin. After curing, use a rubberized dead blow hammer to lightly tap the mold’s bottom and sides. Flip the mold and tap the ends on your workbench to release the blanks. Alumilite and polyester resin blanks release effortlessly, while epoxy blanks may require extra taps or a blast of air from a rubberized nozzle.
Why Buy These Seconds?
Despite the oversized slots, these molds are a cost-effective solution for single blank casting. Their robust construction, innovative stackable design, and discounted price make them an excellent choice for crafting stunning pen blanks.
Note:
These molds are not compatible with tube casting plugs due to the 0.5mm oversized slots and are designed exclusively for single blank casting. The flattened ears on the ends clearly identify them as SECONDS. For precise squaring, trim blanks on a table saw if needed. The bottom hole slot plugs, designed for the DinoBone mold series, are compatible but require adaptation of their usage for the DogBone mold. Ensure the silicone slot plugs are trimmed to fit flush with the DinoBone mold base to prevent indentations in your blanks, but they need to be pulled back slightly as shown below for the DogBone Molds.

High-capacity 8-slot HDPE casting mold designed specifically for DogBone label casting plugs. Cast two tubes per slot for Jr. Gent, Sierra Clone, Bolt Action, and most other common pen kits.
Product Description (copy/paste ready):
If you love label casting with dogbone plugs and want serious production capacity, this 8-slot tube-in casting mold is the perfect upgrade. Designed to accommodate our dogbone label casting plugs, it lets you cast two tubes per slot for most popular pen kits (Jr. Gent, Sierra Clone, Bolt Action, and more).
Each slot measures 7" long, giving you plenty of room for full-length blanks with excellent results. The mold is precision-milled from durable, virtually indestructible HDPE — no warping or cracking like flexible silicone molds.
Key Features:
- 8 slots — cast up to 16 tubes (2 per slot) in a single pour
- 7" slot length — ideal for standard pen blanks
- Compatible with DogBone label casting plugs
- Works with all common tube sizes (Jr. Gent, Sierra Clone, Bolt Action, etc.)
- Designed for pressure casting in 5-gallon or larger resin pressure pots (will NOT fit in 2.5-gallon pots)
- Robust construction built for repeated use
This mold is strictly intended for tube-in / label casting. All standard casting resins perform great, including JB Royal Epoxy, Alumilite urethane, other epoxy resins, and polyester resins.
Important Notes:
- A good release agent is required. We highly recommend applying it thoroughly to the chambers and any plugs/inserts before pouring.
- For easiest demolding, use a rubberized dead blow hammer after full cure. Tap the bottom and sides, then flip and tap the ends on your workbench.
- Alumilite and polyester blanks typically release very easily. Epoxy blanks may need a few extra taps or a blast of compressed air.
Usage Tips:
- Always pressure cast when possible for bubble-free results.
- Test your setup in your pressure pot before full production runs.
- Clean the mold thoroughly after each use for maximum lifespan.
This heavy-duty mold is perfect for serious hobbyists and volume casters who want reliable, repeatable results with DogBone label casting.
