Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium, commonly known as RFK Stadium, was a historic multi-purpose venue located in Washington, D.C., along the Anacostia River. Opened on October 1, 1961, as District of Columbia Stadium, it was one of the first stadiums designed to accommodate both baseball and football, with a circular "cookie-cutter" layout. Built at a cost of $24 million, it initially seated around 43,500 for football and up to 45,000 for baseball. The stadium was renamed in 1969 to honor Senator Robert F. Kennedy following his assassination, reflecting its role as a national landmark.

Over its decades of operation, RFK hosted numerous professional and college teams. The Washington Redskins (now Commanders) called it home from 1961 to 1996, winning three Super Bowls during their tenure. In baseball, the Washington Senators played there from 1962 to 1971 before relocating to Texas, and the Washington Nationals used it temporarily from 2005 to 2007. Soccer was prominent too, with D.C. United of Major League Soccer residing from 1996 to 2017, alongside earlier teams like the Washington Whips (1967–1968), Washington Diplomats (1974–1981), and Team America (1983). College football teams included the George Washington Colonials (1961–1966) and Howard Bison (various years up to 2016). Other squads, such as the Washington Federals of the USFL (1983–1984) and Washington Freedom women's soccer (2001–2003), also played there.

The stadium hosted iconic events, including five NFC Championship games, two MLB All-Star Games (1962 and 1969), 1994 World Cup matches, 1996 Olympic soccer, and concerts by artists like the Beatles and the Grateful Dead.

RFK closed in 2019 after its final event. As of 2025, demolition is underway, with plans for a new stadium for the Washington Commanders set to open in 2030 on the site.

The stadium was built in 1924 to replace Stuart Field, which had been hosting Purdue football since 1892. It is named in honor of Purdue alumni David E. Ross and George Ade, the principal benefactors. In 1922 Ade and Ross bought 65 acres (26 hectares) of land for the site of the new stadium. They also provided additional financial support for construction of the facility. Ross–Ade Stadium opened on November 22, 1924, with a seating capacity of 13,500--roughly corresponding to the lower portion of the current facility's west grandstand---and standing room for an additional 5,000 people. A series of additions and renovations pushed the seating capacity to almost 68,000 (70,000 with standing room). In 2001, Purdue University began a $70 million renovation, including widening both aisles and seats, which led to a reduced seating capacity of 62,500.

The largest crowd ever to see a game in Ross-Ade is 71,629 against Indiana on Nov 22, 1980.

In summer 2017, Ross–Ade Stadium installed permanent stadium lights.[6]

In March 2019 it was announced that a memorial for Superfan Tyler Trent who died on January 1st 2019 at the age of 20 from osteosarcoma a type of bone cancer would be placed at Student Section Gate entrance in his honor.

On December 6, 2019, it was announced that due to a $15 million gift, the new name of the facility is Rohrman Field at Ross-Ade Stadium.

Sanford Stadium is the on-campus home field for football at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA,. The stadium is the tenth-largest stadium in the NCAA. Games played there are said to be played "between the hedges" due to the field being surrounded by privet hedges, which have been a part of the design of the stadium since it opened in 1929. The current hedges were planted in 1996 after the originals were taken out to accommodate the soccer for the 1996 Summer Olympics.

The stadium is named for Dr. Steadman Vincent Sanford, an early major force behind UGA athletics

Seals Stadium was a minor league baseball stadium in San Francisco, that later became the first home of the major league San Francisco Giants. Opened in the Mission District in 1931, Seals Stadium was the longtime home of the San Francisco Seals (1931–57) of the Pacific Coast League. The Pacific Coast League Mission Reds (1931–37) shared the ballpark with the Seals for the first seven years before moving to Los Angeles.

In 1958, Seals Stadium became a temporary home for the San Francisco Giants for their first two seasons in San Francisco while Candlestick Park was under construction. Less than three decades old, Seals Stadium was demolished in late 1959.

Cheney Stadium is a Minor League Baseball stadium located in Tacoma, Washington. It currently serves as home of the Tacoma Rainiers of the Pacific Coast League, as well as professional soccer clubs Tacoma Defiance of the USL Championship and OL Reign of the National Women's Soccer League. The stadium opened in 1960 and has a capacity of 6,500. It is next to Henry Foss High School, and the stadium has an agreement with the school to use the school parking lot for parking.

Shea Municipal Stadium, it was a stadium in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, Queens, New York City, NY. Built as a multi-purpose stadium, it was the home park of MLB New York Mets from 1964 to 2008, and the NFL New York Jets football team from 1964 to 1983. The venue was named in honor of William A. Shea, the man who brought National League baseball back to New York after the Dodgers and Giants left for California in 1957. Shea always used a natural grass surface, in contrast to other multi-purpose stadiums of the same era. Shea Stadium's final game was September 28, 2008.

Shibe Park, known later as Connie Mack Stadium, was the home of the Philadelphia Athletics and the Philadelphia Phillies. When it opened April 12, 1909, it became baseball's first steel-and-concrete stadium. The venue's two home teams won both the first and last games at the stadium: the Athletics beat the Boston Red Sox 8-1 on opening day 1909, while the Phillies beat the Montreal Expos 2-1 on October 1, 1970, in the park's final contest.

It is the home of the Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball and women's basketball teams. It opened in 1971, replacing the current Gladstein Fieldhouse. The court is named after Branch McCracken, the men's basketball coach who led the school to its first two NCAA National Championships in 1940 and 1953. Basketball sportscaster Gus Johnson called the Assembly Hall "the Carnegie Hall of basketball."

The Spectrum (later known as CoreStates Spectrum, First Union Spectrum and Wachovia Spectrum) was an indoor arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. Opened in the fall of 1967 as part of what is now known as the South Philadelphia Sports Complex, after several expansions of its seating capacity it accommodated 18,168 for basketball and 17,380 for ice hockey, arena football, indoor soccer, and box lacrosse.

The last event at the Spectrum was a Pearl Jam concert on October 31, 2009. The arena was demolished between November 2010 and May 2011.

Opened as the Spectrum in fall 1967, Philadelphia's first modern indoor sports arena was built to be the home of the expansion Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL, and also to accommodate the existing Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA. The building was the second major sports facility built at the south end of Broad Street in an area previously known as East League Island Park and now referred to simply as the South Philadelphia Sports Complex.

Sportsman's Park was the name of several former Major League Baseball ballpark structures in St. Louis, Missouri. All but one of these were located on the same piece of land, at the northwest corner of Grand Boulevard and Dodier Street, on the north side of the city.

From 1920–1953, Sportsman's Park was the home field of both the St. Louis Browns of the American League, and the St. Louis Cardinals of the National League, after which the Browns departed to become the modern-day Baltimore Orioles. The physical street address was 2911 North Grand Boulevard. This ballpark (by then known as Busch Stadium, but still commonly called Sportsman's Park) was also the home of the St. Louis Cardinals of the National Football League from 1960 through 1965, after the team's relocation from Chicago and before Busch Memorial Stadium opened its doors in 1966. In 1923, the stadium hosted St. Louis's first NFL team, the St. Louis All-Stars.

Stagg Field, located at the University of Chicago, was originally a football stadium named after legendary coach Amos Alonzo Stagg. It served as the home of the university’s football team until the program was discontinued in 1939. While the stadium itself was demolished in 1957, Stagg Field is most famous for its role in history during World War II.

On December 2, 1942, beneath the stadium’s west stands, physicist Enrico Fermi and his team conducted the world’s first controlled, self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction as part of the Manhattan Project. This groundbreaking experiment marked the beginning of the atomic age.

The University of Chicago, founded in 1890, is one of the world's leading research institutions. Known for its rigorous academics and influential faculty, the university has made significant contributions in physics, economics, and law. Today, the site of Stagg Field is commemorated by the Henry Moore sculpture "Nuclear Energy," honoring its pivotal role in scientific history.

Opened in 1877, the stadium was used by the London Athletic Club until 1905, when new owner Gus Mears founded Chelsea Football Club to occupy the ground; Chelsea have played their home games there ever since. It has undergone major changes over the years, most recently in the 1990s when it was renovated into a modern, all-seater stadium.

Built in 1965 to replace the smaller Woollen Gymnasium, Carmichael Arena is a multi-purpose arena on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, NC. It was initially the home of the men’s basketball and wrestling teams. The men’s basketball team moved to their current home at the Dean Smith Center. Coach Dean Smith was the men’s coach for their entire tenure in Carmichael Arena.

The arena is currently the Tar Heels’ home court for women's basketball, women's volleyball, women's gymnastics, and wrestling teams.

Original to 1965, these wooden basketball floor slats were removed during the 1998 renovation.

The arena, with a seating capacity of approximately 19,000, has hosted numerous NBA Finals, All-Star Games, and historic moments in basketball history.

The Los Angeles Lakers, one of the most successful franchises in NBA history, have played at the arena since its opening. Stegeman Coliseum is a 10,523-seat multi-purpose arena in Athens, Georgia, United States. The arena opened in 1964. It is home to the University of Georgia Bulldogs basketball and gymnastics teams. It was also the venue of the rhythmic gymnastics and preliminary indoor volleyball matches during the 1996 Summer Olympics, as well as the 1989, 1995, and 2008 NCAA gymnastics championships. As a multi-purpose facility, the Coliseum also hosted a variety of other kinds of events, including many large indoor rock concerts during its early history[3], as well as the university's Graduate School commencement exercises. At its opening it replaced Woodruff Hall, a 3,000-seat field house built in 1923.

Tiger Stadium, previously known as Navin Field and Briggs Stadium, was a baseball park located in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit, Michigan. It hosted the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball from 1912 to 1999, as well as the Detroit Lions of the National Football League from 1938 to 1974. It was declared a State of Michigan Historic Site in 1975 and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1989. The stadium was nicknamed "The Corner" for its location on Michigan Avenue and Trumbull Avenue.

The last Detroit Tigers game at the stadium was held in September 1999. In the decade after the Tigers vacated the stadium, several rejected redevelopment and preservation efforts finally gave way to demolition. The stadium's demolition was completed on September 21, 2009, though the stadium's actual playing field remains at the corner where the stadium once stood. Since the spring of 2010, a volunteer group known as the Navin Field Grounds Crew (composed of Tiger Stadium fans, preservationists, and Corktown residents) has restored and maintained the field.

A plan to redevelop the old Tiger Stadium site would retain the historic playing field for youth sports and ring the 10-acre property with new development has received final approval, and funding.

Tulane Stadium was an outdoor football stadium located in New Orleans, LA. It is officially the Third Tulane Stadium and replaced the "Second Tulane Stadium" where the Telephone Exchange Building is now located.

Tulane Stadium hosted Tulane University's Green Wave from 1926 to 1974, New Orleans Saints from 1967 to 1974, and the Sugar Bowl from 1935 to 1974. The stadium was closed August 3, 1975 and demolished June 15, 1980. The stadium hosted three of the first nine Super Bowls in 1970, 1972, and 1975.
