Authentic "42" Movie Pen Blanks - Jackie Robinson Baseball Memorabilia from Stadium Seats
Own a tangible piece of cinematic and baseball history with these authentic pen blanks from the acclaimed movie 42 (2013), starring Chadwick Boseman as the legendary Jackie Robinson. These blanks are crafted from real wooden stadium seats used as props in the film—sourced from RFK Stadium's cast iron legs and Pompano Racetrack seats, then repainted in the iconic blue-grey hues of Ebbets Field. Turn them into custom pens that capture the spirit of breaking barriers, just like Robinson did in 1947.
Whether you're a pen-turning hobbyist, a baseball memorabilia collector, or searching for a unique gift for a sports fan, these Jackie Robinson memorabilia blanks blend craftsmanship with nostalgia. From the blockbuster that grossed over $97 million and celebrated Robinson's trailblazing journey, only about 1,500 seats were used—making these truly limited-edition items.

Usage Information
Transform your blanks into showstoppers with these pro-level insights. Our upgraded V2 blanks boast finer shredded plastic for ultra-smooth turning and minimal chip-out. Dial in sharp carbide or HSS tools, crank speeds to 2,000–3,000 RPM, and take feather-light cuts (0.005–0.015 inches). Wet-sand from 220 to 2,000 grit, zap pin-holes with thin CA glue, and finish with Magic Juice polish for a mirror finish.
What it is
The 3D Printed Offset Lathe Chuck Pen Jaws set lets pen turners perform off-center drilling on standard chucks. This four-jaw kit preserves original painted surfaces or char from whiskey barrels on finished pens, exactly as described in our blog post on saving painted surfaces. The black jaw serves as the base. Green jaws handle larger tubes (12.5 mm, 15/32 in, 37/64 in). Blue jaws fit Sierra, cigar, and junior lower tubes (27/64 in, 10 mm, 10.5 mm). Red jaws accommodate 3/8 in bolt tubes plus 7 mm and 8 mm sizes.
Setup & use
Install the jaws directly into your existing lathe chuck. Select the color-coded jaw that matches your tube diameter, mount the blank, and drill off-center. The precise fit keeps tubes stable during turning. Compatible with most self-centering chucks used by pen makers. Always verify tube size before selecting the jaw to avoid slippage.
Shop pairings
Pair these jaws with pen kits for complete projects, Magic Juice to stabilize barrel material, and casting supplies when creating custom resin blanks. Explore more lathe accessories in our tools collection and additional 3D-printed items in Mix&Match 3D Printed Singles.
These jaws solve the common challenge of centering tubes while protecting unique surface details. Makers report cleaner off-center results and fewer ruined blanks compared with makeshift methods. The durable 3D-printed construction withstands repeated workshop use and stores compactly when not in use. For best results, combine with sharp drill bits and light pressure during the offset pass. This accessory belongs in any serious pen turner’s toolkit alongside standard jaws and mandrels.
Complete your vertical casting projects with this full 11-color set of 3D printed star inserts sized for 3/4 inch PVC pipe. Each insert features a precise star geometry that creates striking embedded patterns in resin blanks.
These inserts are designed specifically for use with 3/4" PVC vertical casting molds. They fit cleanly inside standard PVC tubes, allowing makers to pour clear or tinted resin around the star shape for dramatic visual effects in finished pen blanks, bottle stoppers, or ring blanks.
Material & Dimensions
Each set includes eleven individual 3D printed stars, one in every color of the standard lineup. The prints are made from durable, resin-compatible filament that holds shape during casting and does not react with common Alumilite or similar casting resins.
Compatibility & Uses
Ideal for hybrid blank makers working with wood, resin, or embedded materials. Pair with our COA or wood blanks for layered projects. The star pattern shows clearly after turning and finishing with standard tools and polishes.
Project ideas include custom NFL or NCAA themed pens, steampunk-style stoppers, and unique watch part hybrids. The set gives you every color option so you can match team colors, seasonal themes, or experiment with different resin tints.
Care Notes
Store inserts in a cool, dry place. Avoid excessive heat before casting. Always wear proper PPE when handling resin and follow manufacturer safety guidelines.

Wood Species & Blank Sizes
These pen blanks are crafted from genuine Acacia, a dense and attractive domestic hardwood prized by turners for its warm golden tones and subtle grain. Each blank measures a minimum of 5" long × 3/4" × 3/4" square, sized perfectly for standard pen kits. Acacia offers fine, straight grain with occasional figuring that polishes to a rich luster, making every finished piece unique. Native to North America, this species provides reliable performance for makers seeking a stable domestic hardwood option.
Turning & Finishing Notes
Acacia turns cleanly on standard lathes with carbide or HSS tools, showing minimal tear-out thanks to its stable, even texture. It accepts CA glue, friction polish, and oil-based finishes evenly. Pre-drill for tube insertion to prevent splitting. For best results, sand progressively and avoid excessive heat that could darken the natural color. Pair these blanks with Craft Coat for a durable, high-gloss finish that enhances the wood's natural beauty.
Project Ideas
Ideal for slimline ballpoints, rollerball pens, and bottle stoppers. Makers also use Acacia for ring blanks, key fobs, and small tool handles. Its warm tones complement both modern and traditional designs. Explore Pen blanks for more options or Compatible Pen Component Sets to complete your project. Display finished pens on Pen display stands & COA holders.
Care & Safety
Store in a climate-controlled area to maintain moisture content. Wear dust protection during turning and sanding. Acacia is non-toxic but always follow workshop safety practices. All blanks are cut fresh to order. Discover more in our Premium Hardwood Blanks collection.
African Blackwood Pen Blanks – 5" × ¾" Square
Scientific Name: Dalbergia melanoxylon
Common Names: African Blackwood, Mpingo, Grenadilla
Origin
African Blackwood is native to the seasonally dry savannas and miombo woodlands of East and Southern Africa. It grows from Senegal in the west to Eritrea in the east, and south through Tanzania, Mozambique, and into parts of South Africa. The highest-quality turning stock today primarily comes from southeastern Tanzania and northern Mozambique.
Description & Characteristics
One of the densest and hardest woods in the world (Janka hardness ≈ 3,670 lbf), African Blackwood is prized by pen turners for its exceptional stability, tight grain, and stunning appearance. The heartwood ranges from deep chocolate brown to jet black, often with subtle purple or reddish streaks that create beautiful contrast under a high-gloss finish.
These premium 5" × ¾" square pen blanks are pre-squared, kiln-dried, and ready for turning into elegant single-barrel or slimline pens.
Turning Tips for African Blackwood
- Extreme Density: Turns slower than most woods but delivers crisp, clean cuts with excellent detail retention.
- Tools: Sharp carbide tools are highly recommended — they slice cleanly with minimal tear-out and stay sharp longer. High-speed steel also works well with light cuts.
- Technique: Use moderate lathe speeds and light passes. Allow the blank to cool between grits when sanding to prevent heat buildup.
- Finish: Takes CA glue, friction polish, shellac, and most pen finishes beautifully. Its natural oils help produce a deep, glass-like shine.
- Dust & Safety: Produces fine dust — always use strong dust extraction and wear a good respirator. Many turners enjoy its pleasant, slightly sweet aroma while turning.
Perfect for both experienced turners seeking heirloom-quality pens and ambitious beginners wanting a premium challenge. African Blackwood creates pens that feel substantial and look timeless.
Ready to create something extraordinary? Add these African Blackwood pen blanks to your cart today!

Muhammad Ali was an American professional boxer, activist, entertainer and philanthropist. Nicknamed The Greatest, he is regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time. Ali was born on January 17, 1942 and raised in Louisville, KY as Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr. before later changing his name to Muhammad Ali.
He began training as an amateur boxer at age 12. At 18, he won a gold medal in the light heavyweight division at the 1960 Summer Olympics and turned professional later that year. He won the world heavyweight championship from Sonny Liston in a major upset on February 25, 1964, at age 22. Ali was involved in several historic boxing matches and feuds. Most notably were his fights with Joe Frazier, the Fight of the Century and the Thrilla in Manila, and his fight with George Foreman, The Rumble in the Jungle. Ali was a leading heavyweight boxer of the 20th century, and he remains the only three-time lineal champion of that division. His joint records of beating 21 boxers for the world heavyweight title and winning 14 unified title bouts stood for 35 years.
Ali retired from boxing in 1981 and focused on religion, philanthropy, and activism. His boxing record was 61 total fights with 56 wins, 37 wins by KO, and 5 losses. In 1984, he made public his diagnosis of Parkinson's syndrome, which some reports attribute to boxing-related injuries. Ali died June 3, 2016, age 74.

Allen Fieldhouse is an indoor arena in the central United States, on the University of Kansas campus in Lawrence, Kansas. It is home of the Kansas Jayhawks men's and women's basketball teams. The arena is named after Dr. Forrest C. "Phog" Allen, a former player and head coach for the Jayhawks whose tenure lasted 39 years. Allen Fieldhouse is one of college basketball's most historically significant and prestigious buildings, with 37 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Tournament games having been hosted at the center. The actual playing surface has been named the James Naismith Court, in honor of basketball's inventor, who established KU's basketball program and served as the Jayhawks' first coach from 1898 to 1907.
Allen Fieldhouse has also hosted several NCAA tournament regionals, NBA exhibition games, and occasional concerts such as The Beach Boys, Elton John, James Taylor, Sonny and Cher, Leon Russell, Alice Cooper, ZZ Top, Tina Turner, Harry Belafonte, Henry Mancini, The Doobie Brothers, Kansas, and Bob Hope, as well as speakers, including former President Bill Clinton in 2004, Senator Robert F. Kennedy (which drew over 20,000) in March 1968, and anarchist Abbie Hoffman in 1970.
ESPN The Magazine named Allen Fieldhouse the loudest college basketball arena in the country. The arena broke the Guinness World Record for loudest roar on February 13, 2017, against West Virginia at 130.4 dB. The prior record of 126.4 dB at Lexington's Rupp Arena which lasted less than three weeks also had many Kansas fans present as the Jayhawks beat the #4 Wildcats 79-73 in the Big 12/SEC Challenge.
Allen Fieldhouse is often considered one of the best home court advantages in men's college basketball. The Jayhawks have won over 70 percent of their games in Allen Fieldhouse, losing only a little over 100 games in its over 60-year history. Under current head coach Bill Self, the Jayhawks have had three home court winning streaks over 30 games and two streaks that have reached over 50 games.

Material Story
These historic pen blanks are crafted from the actual wooden seat boards of the Home Locker Room benches at the legendary Allen Fieldhouse, home of the Kansas Jayhawks.
After decades of use by generations of KU players, these solid wooden seats carry the soul of one of college basketball’s most iconic venues. We carefully reclaim and process each piece to create stable, high-quality blanks that preserve the original character, grain, and history of the bench wood.
Whether you're turning a pen, crafting knife scales, or making ring blanks, each piece offers a direct connection to the heart of Jayhawk basketball — where champions prepare, legends are born, and the spirit of Kansas basketball lives on.
The History of Allen Fieldhouse
Allen Fieldhouse, often called the “Cathedral of College Basketball,” is one of the most storied and intimidating arenas in the world. Located on the University of Kansas campus in Lawrence, it opened on March 1, 1955, and was dedicated with a Jayhawk victory over rival Kansas State (77-66) before a capacity crowd of 17,228 fans.
Named after the legendary Dr. Forrest C. “Phog” Allen — a pioneer of the game who played for basketball inventor James Naismith and coached at KU for 39 seasons — the Fieldhouse sits on James Naismith Court. It has served as home to the Kansas Jayhawks for over 70 years, hosting countless memorable games, conference titles, and NCAA tournament runs.
Known for its passionate fans and electric atmosphere, Allen Fieldhouse has been praised as one of the greatest venues in American sports. Under coaches like Bill Self, it has become nearly unbeatable at home, helping power the Jayhawks to multiple Big 12 championships and deep NCAA runs.
Owning a piece of the original Home Locker Room bench wood means you hold a tangible fragment of Kansas basketball history — a place where future NBA stars, Olympic athletes, and Hall of Famers have sat, prepared, and dreamed before stepping onto the court.

------------------------------------------------------------
Allen Fieldhouse is an indoor arena in the central United States, on the University of Kansas campus in Lawrence, Kansas.
