In 1893, an 18-year-old Julian "Pappy" Van Winkle Sr. began working as a salesman for the liquor wholesaler, W.L. Weller & Sons. Fifteen years later, he and another Weller salesman bought the firm. In 1910 they acquired the Stitzel Distillery in Louisville, KY, a sour mash whiskey distillery since 1872.
The Stitzel Distillery supplied much of the whiskey sold by the Weller wholesale firm. The consolidation coincided with prohibition, during which time the Stitzel-Weller firm was licensed by the government to produce whiskey for medicinal purposes. One of their labels that was introduced on the market just before prohibition was Old Rip Van Winkle. After prohibition, the brand was not reintroduced until after 1972 when the Stitzel-Weller distillery and its current brand names W. L. Weller, Old Fitzgerald, Rebel Yell, and Cabin Still were sold to other companies. The only brand name the Van Winkle family had kept the rights to is the pre-prohibition brand Old Rip Van Winkle.
Since 2002, the Van Winkle brands have been distilled and bottled by the Sazerac Company at the Buffalo Trace Distillery as a joint venture with the Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery company.
Like all modern bourbons, Van Winkle bourbons are made primarily from corn and aged in charred new American oak barrels. A distinguishing feature of Van Winkle bourbons is their use of wheat as the secondary ingredient instead of the usual rye, and their additional inclusion of barley malt. Pappy Van Winkle bourbons are aged for 15, 20, or 23 years, which is considerably longer than the aging period for most bourbons.
This certificate does not imply any affiliation or association with the trademarked Pappy Van Winkle, Sazerac Company, or Buffalo Trace Distillery companies as they are not involved with the distribution of this material or the production of the finished item.

Pulteney Distillery, established in 1826 in Wick, Caithness, is one of Scotland’s most northerly mainland distilleries, now surpassed by Wolfburn. Named after Sir William Pulteney, it sits in Pulteneytown, a historic herring fishing hub, infusing its whisky with a maritime character. Known for producing Old Pulteney single malt, the distillery crafts a fruity, salty, and dry whisky, often called "The Maritime Malt." Its unique pot stills, including a flat-topped wash still and a spirit still with a purifier, create high reflux, yielding an oily, weighty spirit matured in ex-bourbon and sherry casks.
The distillery uses traditional methods, with a production capacity of 1.8 million liters annually, targeting 1.5 million in 2015. Its coastal location exposes casks to North Sea air, enhancing the briny flavor. Since 1995, under Inver House Distillers, Old Pulteney has gained acclaim, with the 21-year-old named "Whisky of the Year" by Jim Murray in 2011. The visitor center offers tours, tastings, and exclusive bottlings, reflecting Wick’s seafaring heritage. Pulteney’s commitment to sustainability includes a district heating scheme using renewable steam.

Scapa Distillery, nestled in Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands, Scotland, is one of the northernmost whisky distilleries in the world. Established in 1885 by John Townsend, it is now owned by Pernod Ricard. Situated near the Lingro Burn, its water source imparts a delicate, smooth character to its single malts. With a modest production capacity of 1 million liters annually, Scapa operates two copper pot stills, including a rare Lomond still, contributing to its light, fruity profile. Its flagship expressions, Scapa Skiren and Glansa, showcase honey, citrus, and creamy vanilla notes, with Glansa offering a subtle peat influence from American oak casks. Primarily matured in ex-bourbon barrels, Scapa’s whiskies are key components in blends like Ballantine’s. The distillery emphasizes traditional methods, with long fermentation times enhancing its floral and maritime character. Its visitor center, reopened in 2015, offers tours and tastings with views of Scapa Flow, a historic naval harbor. Committed to sustainability, Scapa employs energy-efficient practices and local barley sourcing. Its elegant, approachable malts and scenic Orkney setting make it a hidden gem in Scotch whisky culture.

Established in 1828 by the Mitchell family, Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown, Scotland, is one of the country’s oldest family-owned distilleries. Producing 750,000 liters annually, it is renowned for its complex, lightly peated single malt Scotch whisky, reflecting Campbeltown’s maritime heritage. Springbank is unique for conducting 100% of its production on-site, including traditional floor malting of locally sourced barley, using three distinct distillation methods: 2.5 times for Springbank, triple for Hazelburn, and double for Longrow. It operates two wash stills (12,000 and 10,000 liters) and one spirit still (7,000 liters), with fermentation times of 72–110 hours, yielding rich, fruity, and oily flavors. Maturation in ex-bourbon, sherry, and wine casks in coastal warehouses adds briny, spicy notes.
Springbank’s core range includes Springbank 10, 15, and 18-year-olds (46% ABV), with the 10-year-old lauded for its balance of peat, citrus, and vanilla. Longrow offers a heavily peated style, while Hazelburn is unpeated. Owned by J&A Mitchell & Co., the distillery supports Campbeltown’s economy and offers tours, tastings, and limited releases like Cask Strength, attracting global whisky enthusiasts for its artisanal approach.

Founded in 1786 by George Taylor and Alexander Milne, Strathisla Distillery in Keith, Speyside, is one of Scotland’s oldest continuously operating distilleries. Owned by Chivas Brothers (Pernod Ricard) since 1950, it produces approximately 2.5 million liters of single malt Scotch whisky annually, known for its rich, fruity, and sherried character. Strathisla is the heart of the Chivas Regal blend but also offers acclaimed single malts. The distillery sources barley locally and uses four copper stills—two wash (13,200 liters each) and two spirit (8,600 liters each)—with a 70-hour fermentation to enhance honeyed and orchard fruit notes. Maturation primarily in ex-sherry and bourbon casks, stored in traditional dunnage warehouses, imparts creamy, nutty, and spicy complexity, influenced by Speyside’s temperate climate.
Strathisla’s core single malt, the 12-year-old (40% ABV), is celebrated for its smooth, malty profile with hints of toffee, dried fruit, and oak, earning praise among whisky enthusiasts. Limited releases, like the Distillery Reserve Collection, are exclusive to its visitor center, which offers tours, tastings, and a cooperage display in the picturesque distillery grounds. Strathisla supports the local community through sustainable practices and remains a cornerstone of Speyside’s whisky heritage.

Embedded blanks with original wing fabric from the Wright Brothers Model EX - Vin Fiz Flyer material.
All blanks will come with one COA per blank.
COAs are 4" x 6" card stock with foil COA seal.
The Vin Fiz Flyer was an early Wright Brothers Model EX pusher biplane that became the first aircraft to fly coast-to-coast across the U.S. The first crossing of the United States by airplane was achieved by Calbraith Perry Rodgers in 1911.
In 1910, publishing magnate William Randolph Hearst announced his offer of a $50,000-prize for a U.S. transcontinental flight in thirty days or less. Rodgers' Wright EX biplane was named the Vin Fiz after his sponsor's grape soda product. He left Sheepshead Bay, NY, on September 17, 1911. A "hangar" car, a rolling workshop filled with spare parts to repair and maintain the airplane, followed along. The flight was broken up by numerous stops, delays, and accidents. When Hearst's 30-day time limit expired, Rodgers had only reached Kansas City, MO, but Rodgers was determined to complete his flight whether he received the prize money or not. He arrived in Pasadena, CA, 49 days after setting out from NY. Although Pasadena was the official end of the coast-to-coast journey, Rodgers flew on to Long Beach to complete the flight at the shore of the Pacific Ocean. The total distance covered was 4,321 miles in 82 hours and 4 minutes total flying time at an average speed of 51.5 mph.
In addition to the Vin Fiz endorsement, Rodgers’ wife Mabel Rodgers used the flight to promote an airmail service. She sold special 25-cent postage stamps for items to be carried on the airplane. They were semi-official and while the Post Office tolerated them, they insisted that mail carry regular stamps as well.
The aircraft was acquired by the Smithsonian Institution in 1934, and eventually joined the collection of the National Air and Space Museum, after being fully restored for display by the Smithsonian in 1960. The material is certified and distributed by Hardin Penworks, LLC. This material is guaranteed to be 100% Authentic.

The Yale Bowl is a college football stadium in the northeast United States, located in New Haven, Connecticut, on the border of West Haven, about 1½ miles (2½ km) west of the main campus of Yale University. The home of the Yale Bulldogs of the Ivy League, it opened in 1914 with 70,896 seats; renovations have reduced its current capacity to 61,446.
The Yale Bowl inspired the design and naming of the Rose Bowl, from which is derived the name of college football's post-season games ("bowl games") and the NFL's "Super Bowl".
In 1973 and 1974, the stadium hosted the New York Giants of the National Football League, as Yankee Stadium was renovated into a baseball-only venue and Giants Stadium was still in the planning and construction stages; the team was able to move to Shea Stadium in 1975.

Yankee Stadium is a baseball park located in Concourse, Bronx, New York City. It is the home field for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB) and New York City FC of Major League Soccer (MLS), as well as being the host stadium for the annual Pinstripe Bowl game. The $2.3 billion stadium, built with $1.2 billion in public subsidies, replaced the original Yankee Stadium in 2009 and is the second largest stadium in MLB by seating capacity. It is located one block north of the original, on the 24-acre former site of Macombs Dam Park; the 8-acre site of the original stadium is now a public park called Heritage Field.
The stadium incorporates replicas of some design elements from the original Yankee Stadium, and like its predecessor, it has hosted additional events, including college football games, soccer matches, two outdoor NHL games, and concerts. Although Yankee Stadium's construction began in August 2006, the project spanned many years and faced many controversies, including the high public cost and the loss of public parkland. The $1.5 billion price tag makes the new Yankee Stadium one of the most expensive stadiums ever built.

Yankee Stadium was a stadium located in the Bronx, a borough of New York City. It was the home ballpark of the New York Yankees, one of the city's Major League Baseball (MLB) franchises, from 1923 to 1973 and then from 1976 to 2008. The stadium hosted 6,581 Yankees regular season home games during its 85-year history. It was also the former home of the New York Giants football team from 1956 through the first part of the 1973-74 football season. The stadium's nickname, "The House That Ruth Built", is derived from Babe Ruth, the baseball superstar whose prime years coincided with the stadium's opening and the beginning of the Yankees' winning history. It has also been known as "The Big Ballpark in The Bronx", "The Stadium", and "The Cathedral of Baseball".
The stadium was built from 1922 to 1923 for $2.4 million ($33.9 million in 2016 dollars). The stadium's construction was paid for entirely by Yankees owner Jacob Ruppert, who was eager to have his own stadium after sharing the Polo Grounds with the New York Giants baseball team the previous 10 years. Yankee Stadium opened for the 1923 MLB season and at the time, it was hailed as a one-of-a-kind facility in the country for its size. Over the course of its history, it became one of the most famous venues in the United States, having hosted a variety of events and historic moments during its existence. While many of these moments were baseball-related—including World Series games, no-hitters, perfect games and historic home runs—the stadium also hosted boxing matches, the 1958 NFL Championship Game, concerts, Jehovah's Witnesses conventions (see record attendance) and three Papal Masses. The stadium went through many alterations and playing surface configurations over the years. The condition of the facility worsened in the 1960s and 1970s, prompting its closing for renovation from 1974 to 1975. The renovation significantly altered the appearance of the venue and reduced the distance of the outfield fences.
In 2006, the Yankees began building a new $2.3 billion stadium in public parkland adjacent to the stadium. The price included $1.2 billion in public subsidies. The design includes a replica of the frieze along the roof that was in Yankee Stadium. Monument Park, a Hall of Fame for prominent former Yankees, was relocated to the new stadium. Yankee Stadium closed following the 2008 baseball season and the new stadium opened in 2009, adopting the "Yankee Stadium" moniker. The original Yankee Stadium was demolished in 2010, two years after it closed, and the 8-acre site was converted into a park called Heritage Field.

Material Story
These eye-catching pen blanks are crafted from **Yellowheart**, one of the most vibrant and cheerful exotic hardwoods available. Renowned for its brilliant, natural lemon-yellow to golden-yellow color, Yellowheart stands out with a bold, sunny appearance that few other woods can match.
This dense hardwood features a straight to slightly interlocked grain with a fine, uniform texture that turns smoothly and finishes to a beautiful, lustrous polish. The striking color makes it perfect for creating bold, modern pens or adding a bright accent to segmented turning projects.
Each blank is carefully selected for rich, consistent color and quality, delivering excellent stability and outstanding visual impact in the finished piece.
About Yellowheart Wood
Yellowheart, also known as Pau Amarello or Brazilian Yellowheart, is a premium exotic hardwood native to the tropical rainforests of Brazil and parts of South America. Its scientific name is Euxylophora paraensis.
What makes Yellowheart truly special is its intense, natural yellow coloration — ranging from bright lemon yellow to deep golden hues. Unlike many woods that fade, Yellowheart holds its vibrant color remarkably well, though it can develop a slightly richer golden-orange tone over time with light exposure.
With good density and a Janka hardness rating of approximately 1,860 lbf, Yellowheart offers excellent durability while remaining workable for turners. It has a fine, even texture and machines cleanly, making it a favorite for decorative turning, pens, bowls, and musical instruments.
Yellowheart brings a rare burst of natural brightness and tropical energy to any woodworking project, creating finished pieces that are joyful, distinctive, and full of character.
