The original Wembley Stadium was a stadium in Wembley Park, London, best known for hosting important football matches. It stood on the same site now occupied by its successor.

Wembley hosted the FA Cup final annually, the first in 1923, the League Cup final annually, five European Cup finals, the 1966 World Cup Final, and the final of Euro 96. Brazilian footballer Pelé once said of the stadium: "Wembley is the cathedral of football. It is the capital of football and it is the heart of football", in recognition of its status as the world's best-known football stadium. The stadium also hosted many other sports events, including the 1948 Summer Olympics, rugby league's Challenge Cup final, and the 1992 and 1995 Rugby League World Cup Finals. About Wenge Wood

Wenge is a premium exotic hardwood native to the tropical rainforests of Central Africa, primarily from countries such as Cameroon, Gabon, Congo, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Plans had been in the works for years to build a new White House or expand the original, including some quite grand designs. Roosevelt wanted to tread lightly and merely remove the Victorian decor accumulated over the previous thirty years while returning the White House to its Federal-period roots.

Calvin Coolidge Renovation of 1927

In 1927, Calvin Coolidge, tired of the leaky roof, had the attic space expanded into a full third floor by constructing a steel-frame story atop the brick and mortar walls of 1800. The extra space provided more room for the first family and shifted more servants out of the Residence. The president and first lady rented Patterson House, one mile away, for the six months it took to renovate the White House.

Harry Truman Reconstruction of 1950

In 1948, after the Truman Balcony was installed, an engineering survey found the main body of the mansion to be structurally unsound. Floors no longer merely creaked, they swayed. A -thorough examination found wooden beams had been weakened by the cutting and drilling for plumbing and wiring over the past 150 years. The addition of the 1927 steel roof and full third floor added weight the building could no longer handle. Declared to be in imminent danger of collapse, the reconstruction began in 1948.

First Photograph of the White House 1846 The earliest known photograph of the White House was taken in 1846 and is attributed to a Welsh immigrant named John Plumbe, Jr., who was one of the country’s first prominent professional photographers. Home stadium for the South Carolina Gamecocks football team from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, Williams–Brice Stadium is currently the 16th largest on-campus college football stadium in the NCAA.

The stadium is often called "Willy B" by Gamecock fans and local media, and the name has been commonly used by these groups since at least the early 1970s when the university held a fund-raising campaign to raise money for an AstroTurf playing surface, called "The Cockpit".

The stadium was originally built in 1934 with help of federal Works Progress Administration funds as Columbia Municipal Stadium. It was built to replace Melton Field, an aging wooden structure that was located where USC's Thomas Cooper Library stands today. In 1941, the stadium was deeded to USC and renamed Carolina Stadium until 1972 when it was renamed Williams–Brice Stadium.

Theodore Samuel Williams was an American professional baseball player and manager. Born and raised in San Diego, CA, Williams played baseball throughout his youth. After joining the Red Sox in 1939, he emerged as one of baseball’s best hitters. He played his entire 19-year MLB career with the Boston Red Sox from 1939 to 1960. Williams drafted into service during World War II from 1942 to 1945.

Williams is regarded as one of the greatest hitters in baseball history. He was a nineteen-time All-Star, a two-time recipient of the American League MVP, a six-time American League batting champion, and a two-time Triple Crown winner. He finished his playing career with a .344 batting average, 521 home runs, and a .482 on-base percentage. Williams was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1966, and he also managed the Washington Senators/Texas Rangers franchise from 1969 to 1972.
